FAIREST OF ALL Book Review

black background, title in purple written in script in the bottom right corner, half profile of a woman with a high arched black eyebrow, purple eyeshadow, amber eyes, and slightly parted lips.

Fairest of All (Book 1 in Villains series) by Walt Disney Company, eBook, 259 pages

From GoodReads: Why exactly is the wicked Queen so nasty, particularly to Snow White? Perhaps it has something to do with the creepy-looking man in the magic mirror who's not just some random spooky visage...

If you're unfamiliar with this series, this is like a backstory for the Disney Villains that we have all grown up with. Stories of HOW these villains became who they are. One thing that I have consistently heard is that you MUST read these stories in order of release and cannot skip around. While we know these stories, they don't tend to overlap but we are about to see a small connection.

At the beginning of the story, I wondered if this was going to be another telling of the Evil Queen's story from the tv show Once Upon A Time (a great show that I love btw). I was wrong. She had a strained and nonexistent relationship with her father and it wasn't until the King passed and saw her, telling her that she was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on, did she even think that she could be loved. She falls in love with the King and Snow White. The story fills you with hope and wonderment. How did the Queen become the Evil Queen? What caused the drastic change? Read this story.

Initially I thought this was a 4.5 but ultimately I finished the story feeling 5 stars and anxious to read the next book in the series! Next up is The Beast!

5/5 Stars
