To Touch A Silent Fury¹ (book 1 in The Bride of Eavenfold Duology) by R. A. Sandpiper, eBook, 501 pages

Synopsis from GoodReads: She rides to claim her fate, he flies to burn it down.

As the only woman in the Moontouched Brotherhood, Tani studies on the haughty island of Eavenfold surrounded by men who see her as an ill omen at best. Her Fate Ceremony is only days away, offering five possible escapes from the storm-locked island, but each with their own consequences.

Lang, an insubordinate Crown Prince, holds the reins to one of the few true dragons left in the world. Sent to Eavenfold on a diplomatic mission by his warmongering father, he watches as the Brothers bestow a rare and unwanted Marriage Fate on Tani. Already her touch magic alarms him, but if she succeeds and marries the victor of the upcoming tournament, her power could topple empires.

They both arrive at the games. Her, to claim her Fate. Him, to destroy it by any means possible.

BOOK REVIEW: My jaw is still on the floor after reading this one. I had no idea how it was going to end. The closer I got to the last part the more I realized that this was going to be a cliffhanger that was going to piss me off. I definitely didn't see it coming and I'm pissed off not because of the story but because this book just came out a few weeks ago and now I have to wait who knows how long until book 2 comes out! This is such an amazing story. There's tension, drama, chaos, and dragons. Y'all should know how I feel about dragons by now.

One of the things I absolutely love is the way she describes those in the Brotherhood as well as those bonded to dragons. The Moontouched Brothers have white hair and white eyes. I'm picturing eyes like Lilith in season 3 and 4 of Supernatural. No pupils or irises, just white eyes. Then she describes Lang's eyes as this bright blood red. Why are they red? Because his dragon's eyes were red, they bonded, and he took on the color of his dragon's eyes and his dragon took on his. How cool is that! That's something I've never seen/read in anything about dragons and such an interesting take. Quite possibly the best addition I've read to date!

Fast 5 stars. This definitely has a slow build but it is so worth the read. This is the first book I've read by this author but I apparently already have a book of hers that I bought. Y'all I'm telling you my ever growing TBR and Kindle Library and physical library are chaos! I don't even want to look at my Audible library. Anyway, the author has created an amazing world based on the senses: Sight, Sound, Touch, Taste, and Scent. Then they have five seasons as well. Five is the running theme. They don't count things by years but by spans and a span is 5 years. So I would be just over 8 spans (stop it...don't do the math). Coming into their 5th span is very important especially for the Brothers because that is when they get assigned their fate. The characters change and evolve and I am still at a loss for all that I read and I have no idea where the author will take us in book 2 but there's only one thing that I hope she includes and I can't tell otherwise I'll give it away! This is an Indie author so right now this book is available as an eBook or paper back but no audiobook. I wish there was audio because I need to know how to pronounce these names and places!
