The Daisy Chain Collapse (book 2 in The Daisy Chain Duo) by A.C. Nightingale, eBook, 274 pages

Synopsis from GoodReads: When one link breaks, the entire chain trembles. Told through multiple, deeply emotional perspectives, The Daisy Chain Collapse continues the story of three inseparable friends—Rose, Violet, and Mei—whose bond was shattered by a tragic accident. Now, in the wake of unimaginable loss, the people they left behind must navigate the wreckage of their memories, their guilt, and the fragile possibility of healing.

As each voice enters the story—Violet, Mei, Rose, Thorne, Cam, Mr. and Mrs. Wong, and many more—strangers become family, grief becomes connection, and the simple act of surviving becomes something sacred. Every character carries a piece of the broken chain…and every choice they make creates ripples that shape the lives around them.

This is not a story of suspense—it is a story of hearts laid bare. A narrative about learning to breathe again when the air still tastes like sorrow. About loving again when the ghosts of the past feel too heavy to hold. About finding hope in the people who choose to stay.

BOOK REVIEW: I am so glad that I was able to be an ARC reader for this author again. I absolutely loved The Daisy Chain Reaction (see related posts for my review) and was so excited to see what she would do for book 2 and from the jump I'm going to tell you two things. First, you have to read book 1 first. Trust me. Second, make sure you have tissues with you at all times because you are in for an EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER in this installment. I actually mentioned to the author that I wasn't sure how I was going to write my review without giving spoilers away from book 1. She said that was a challenge she had in coming up with her synopsis and when giving her elevator pitches on social media to market the book.

As much as I generally don't like multiple POVs, this book is different. For the most part, this is taking place at the same time as book 1 so we are seeing the reaction of the loved ones of Violet, Mei, and Rose and how the accident and aftermath is affecting them so it didn't bother me at all. I don't know that I could say that I have a favorite part or anything like that but I will say that I absolutely loved how the author intertwined the characters and their stories and brought everyone together.

This is 5 stars for me. This is an amazing story. This author has knocked it out of the park with both books and I know we can expect great things from this author. The characters that she writes are familiar and inclusive. We have deaf characters, autistic characters, characters with mobility issues for one reason or another. We see the community come together and embrace everyone as they are in such a beautiful way. This author has some amazing talent and I cannot wait to see what she comes out with in the future. This book comes out on Thursday, 1.1.2026, and will be available on Amazon as physical and eBook. Mostly likely in the KU member library as well. The link provided above is not an affiliate link but to the author's shop to purchase merch from her directly including signed copies of her books. I know there is a lot of pushback around supporting Amazon but this is the best way to support Indie authors who are self publishing so please keep that in mind.
