Kissed by Moonlight (Book 2 in The Hunted Series) by Trisha Spade, eBook, 489 pages
Synopsis from GoodReads: Mackenzie is a werewolf with the powers of an ancient witch, but she has no clue what she’s doing. What could go wrong? She is so tired of being in danger, of having her life and the people she loves threatened. She has this big wonderful new family and a man who loves her, but can she relax and enjoy it? Nope. Of course not! There’s always some big evil bad guy, trying to destroy everything. Why can’t life ever just be easy?
Of course, if it were easy, the Gods wouldn’t get to play their games. And these Gods, are perfectly happy to sacrifice their pawns. So with a Goddess threatening total destruction, an evil werewolf looking for revenge, and a maze full of death traps, Mackenzie and her merry band of supernaturals race to save the day. Or maybe the world. Piece of cake, right?
BOOK REVIEW: I mean...hello! I honestly don't even know where to start. This was equally as fantastic as book one but there were a lot more spicy scenes that did not disappoint! Something about Kenzie's relationship with Aiden feels so familiar to me. There are words spoken between them that I feel like I've spoken before. They are my favorite book couple so far this year! I'm pretty sure I said this about the last book as well but I am loving the focus being on the wolves. The witches are still present in this story as are the vampires but not as focused on like you typically see nowadays.
The author can paint a picture without a doubt! Leaving book 1 off with a cliff hanger and picking the story back up in book 2 without a bunch of time passed was great. There wasn't any of that Last time on ... like you get in some books. I'm the kind of person that struggles to read a series that isn't complete because I will binge the whole series. I don't want to wait so when I read a book that is kind of recapping what happened before I'm thinking...duh I just read that! This wasn't that and I love it! I love how the author approached the physical, mental and emotional trauma that several characters experienced. It was written wonderfully and tactfully.
This is without a doubt 5 stars. I think that's going to be my catch phrase because I am on a roll with 5 star reads! But seriously. We get more details and background on the characters, a deeper look into who they are and what makes them who they are, and while sometimes I had a hard time keeping all of the names straight, there isn't anything I would change at all. Like I said, there are a lot of spicy scenes that were holy moly hot! You definitely need to read book 1, Dreams of Magic, before you read this one and as of 1.22.25, bot books are available in the Kindle Unlimited library for you to enjoy!
