The Midnight Library¹ by Matt Haig, physical, 304 pages

Synopsis from GoodReads: Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

In The Midnight Library, Matt Haig's enchanting blockbuster novel, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision. Faced with the possibility of changing her life for a new one, following a different career, undoing old breakups, realizing her dreams of becoming a glaciologist; she must search within herself as she travels through the Midnight Library to decide what is truly fulfilling in life, and what makes it worth living in the first place.

BOOK REVIEW: There is nothing that calls for any negative comments. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig takes place in England and is the first book I have read by an English author (that I know of). It was confusing to follow the conversations taking place as it appears to be common to use a single quote around speech instead of double-quotes.

I would rate this book a 5 star. For me, this book was perfect. The imagery was fantastic. The lives that Nora chose all filled her with a level of emotions that left me thinking about different paths I could have taken and where I would be if I had made other choices. One of the most important decisions I made was to listen to my recruiter and wait to go to boot camp. I would not have met my husband when I did. I would not have my beautiful little girl. I cannot even imagine what my life would be like without them in my life. That is not a story I would want to live.

5/5 Stars
