BOOK REVIEW: One thing that I love about cozy mystery series like this one is that each book is a stand alone. This is one of the few books that I've read that I feel like you don't have to read book 1 in order to follow along. The author does a wonderful job of recapping who people are without it feeling like a recap for those of us who already know the characters. Everything about this story made me want to be curled up under a blanket with a hot cup of something while I read it which is why I was usually bundled up reading it from the warmth of bed! Talk about cozy!
I love all these characters. The Laundry Club Ladies are the type of women that I want to be friends with. I know a librarian, except she likes to joke about the fact that she is a librarian that doesn't like to read. I feel like I would be Queenie given that I'm the runner. The fact that they all love to read the same kinds of books that I love and watch the same shows I like to watch just connects me even more to this series!
I gave this 5 stars. I almost gave it 4.5 because Hank put ketchup on his pot roast and really...what kind of monster would do that and then follow it up with saying it's the best ever? Like if it was the best ever then why are you slathering it with ketchup Hank! Okay I swear I don't hate Hank but come on. I know I've mentioned it already but it really is a great stand alone and I love that. I like to compare this type of series to that of a really good tv show. You generally have one general story line through the episode. Sometimes it carries over into the next episode but generally you have the beginning, middle, and end in the single episode. I highly recommend giving this book a read and I'll even link the review to Beaches, Bungalows, & Burglaries which is the first book in the series if you want to read that one as well!
