No One But You, Oreva (book 1 in Soul Sisters series) by Enewerome, eBook, 240 pages

Synopsis from GoodReads: Is an unforgivable betrayal—an age-long family secret—potent enough to keep two hearts apart?

Nothing had prepared eighteen-year-old Orevaoghene ‘Revie’ Igbide for her first heartbreak with her best friend, Zik. The worst part? It was payment for a crime neither of them were guilty of. A decade later, she’s set to marry Linus, her knight in shining armor and a charismatic pastor, who isn’t perfect but can give her what she desires most in life—marriage.

After years of going on forced blind dates set up by his mom, Isaac ‘Zik’ Nwachukwu still hasn’t found the one. The reason is simple. His heart belonged to someone else. When the cracks in Revie’s relationship with Linus begin to widen, Zik’s steadfast love forces her to confront feelings she thought were long gone for him. Still, she is reminded of why they can’t be together but left with the difficult choice of sticking with Linus or throwing caution to the wind to be with the love of her life.

A final tragedy ending Revie’s engagement to Linus might just be Zik’s perfect second chance to fight for his one true love. But can they overcome the hurdles of their family’s secret or will they let it tear them apart a second time?

BOOK REVIEW: This was the first book I've read from this author and I'm so glad that she reached out. This is a christian fiction novel filled with their love of God and Jesus and I am here for it all! It filled my heart full of joy to read their prayers and quoting scripture and seeing how His Word is with them in every part of their day from the moment they wake up until they go to sleep. This does take place in Nigeria so some of the slang and customs felt foreign to me and I didn't understand it. The author does provide a list of some of the slang and terms used at the beginning. I did print it out but eventually just didn't want to keep looking back at something. That said, it was fun to learn how another culture approaches dating, getting engaged, and getting married.

This is a 4.5 (rounded up to 5) for me. The knocking down is only because of the native phrases said that I don't understand. I was able to see when it was something local/native because the author put it in italics which was very helpful but there were times that it looked like a regular sentence but with different phrasing or missing words. That is solely on me though. It is not going to stop me from reading the next two books in this series when they come out though. I wan't to see what happens with Oreva's sisters!
