Mummy Pie Murder (Book 10 in A Freshly Baked Cozy Mystery series) by Kathleen Suzette, eBook, 160 pages

From GoodReads: Buying a house that was rumored to be haunted might not have been the brightest idea she had ever had, but you didn’t see how beautiful it was. Unfortunately, the dead body in the bathtub left a ring of suspicion around the entire house.  Allie McSwain never intended to buy a new house, but when the beautiful mansion just outside of town goes up for sale, she has to take a look at it. It was a piece of Sandy Harbor history and was not to be missed. She brings her best friend Lucy Gray along, and the real estate agent takes them on a house tour they won’t soon forget. Mummy pies were Allie’s grandmother’s special Halloween treat, and Allie tries to recreate the recipe, but the real mummy in the mansion is what gives her pause...and the creeps. Can she and her PI boyfriend, Alec Blanchard, and Lucy, find the real killer after all these years?

BOOK REVIEW: This book left me wondering how to make a Mummy Pie. It is mentioned so often that I talked about it with my mom and now I want to try and create one of my own...maybe that will be a nice fall recipe to come! Anyway, the mystery kicks off pretty quickly. This being the 10th book in the series I feel like I really know the characters and their mannerisms. I enjoy the back and forth between everyone but this time my only complaint (and is it really...) is that the who done it and then end of the story happen all too fast and I mean in like a few pages. I understand these are short books but to go from, "You're the killer!" to "This is why they did it..." and happy ending until next time just feels too rushed and almost glossed over.

This was a 4.5 for me for the way too quick ending and the fact that I spent the entire book creating my own Mummy Pie recipe in my head. I can't wait to read the next installment but I think I'll be taking a break from Sandy Harbor for a bit!
