BOOK REVIEW: I want to start off by saying that I loved Dire Bound SO MUCH (see my review in related posts under this one) that I preordered the deluxe special edition of that and this book in hard back. I knew that my hard back was not going to be in my hands on release day so I preordered the eBook on Amazon...and then listened to the audiobook instead. I'm glad I did this though. Not that I would ever knock anyone for multiple copies of books but when it comes to fantasy books I need to know how to pronounce these names so I'm really glad I listened to this book and learned the names. This also had two narrators, a male and female and we go back and forth between Meryn and Stark which I loved!

I think what I loved the most was seeing the relationships change or grow around Meryn. I'm also not saying that the spicy scenes were my favorite but dang they were hot. Like I was listening to the book while waiting to pick up dinner one night and had my eye on the door of the restaurant because the last thing I wanted was some unsuspecting person coming to my car while I'm listening to an explicit scene. I'm not embarrassed to listen or read BUT what if it was some poor 15 year old on their first shift was bringing my food out. Can you imagine! Anyway. We get a lot of story in this book that, if you haven' read Dire Bound and don't follow the authors, I can't wait to see how they wrap up the story in the final book Ruin Bound.

5 stars. Period! Full Stop! We get more characters, new characters, new worlds...realms...I think realms might be a more accurate word. We get to see Meryn and her power evolve. The authors have killed it and giving us two narrators was beautiful! I know that it is hard to produce an audiobook this way but it was so worth it. Any time it was a Meryn chapter and a male character spoke, the male narrator came in and vice versa. I love that because it gives me the ability to feel more of the dialog. Does that make sense? Regardless if you get the standard hard back, paper back, eBook, or audiobook, if you loved Dire Bound, you'll love this one too! All we know is that the final installment Ruin Bound is coming out next year.
